Proton CEO: Proton S50 Coming in 2 Months – November Launch Likely
September 5, 2023 Andrew Cheng

It’s no secret that Proton is planning to release a sedan based on the Geely Emgrand very soon. Popularly referred to as the Proton S50, we now have confirmation from Proton itself on a release window for the sedan: it’s said to be introduced in the next two months.

This detail comes directly from the CEO of Proton, Li Chunrong, as reported by Paultan.org. This matches the rumoured launch of the S50, which is believed to be happening sometime in November, with mass production supposedly starting the month before in October.

As for the S50 itself, four different variants of the sedan are said to be offered. All of them are rumoured to be powered by the familiar 1.5L TGDi engine that outputs 177PS and 255Nm of torque – the same one found under the hood of the X50 and X70.

But until confirmed by Proton itself, take these rumoured details of the Proton S50 with a grain of salt, though the unavailability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is confirmed already. We should learn more about the S50 as we approach closer to the launch of the sedan in two months’ time.
