Back in May this year, Sony teased a PlayStation-branded pair of wireless earbuds. While no release date has been announced yet, we have good reason to believe that it will be introduced very soon, and Malaysia could be one of the first markets to get it.
In our usual search through SIRIM’s database, we notice two peculiar products registered under Sony Malaysia. The YY2977 is said to be a wireless noise cancelling gaming headset, while the YY2980 is a USB transceiver. Based on what we gathered, there’s a good chance this is the PlayStation wireless earbuds with its USB dongle.
Even though it’s described as a gaming headset, FCC documents of the YY2977 confirm that it is actually a pair of earbuds with a “round shape.” This does describe the PlayStation earbuds quite accurately, and it’s good to know that it has noise cancellation as well.
Of course, there’s a chance that the YY2977 isn’t actually the PlayStation earbuds; we’ll just have to wait until Sony reveals more information. So far, it’s only been confirmed that the earbuds will feature a new wireless technology that allows for “lossless audio” and low latency.
