After numerous leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is here. Not surprisingly, the new foldable phone isn’t remarkably different from the Z Fold 4, though it does have some upgrades here and there, including a gapless design and faster chipset.
Three distinct variants of the Z Fold 5 are offered in Malaysia. The base 12GB + 256GB model costs RM6,799, while the 12GB + 512GB variant retails at RM7,299. As for the range-topping 12GB + 1TB configuration, it goes for RM8,299. Basically, the exact same prices as last year’s Z Fold 4 at launch.

So what’s new with the Galaxy Z Fold 5? Well, as mentioned, it now features a gapless design; there’s no longer any gap when the device is folded. Unfortunately, the S Pen still isn’t built into the phone itself, though the S Pen case does have the stylus placed in a more flushed position now, reducing the overall thickness.
Rounding out the specifications of the Z Fold 5 are a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a 7.6-inch 2176 x 1812 Dynamic AMOLED 2X primary display, a 6.2-inch 2316 x 904 Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen – both are 120Hz panels – a triple camera system (50MP main + 12MP ultra-wide + 10MP telephoto), a 10MP selfie camera on the cover, and a 4MP under display camera on the primary display.
Of course, the Z Fold 5 continues to carry an IPX8 rating, and it retains the 4,400mAh battery with 25W charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 can now be pre-ordered in Malaysia until 17 August. To recap, it starts at RM6,799 for the 256GB model, while the 512GB variant costs RM7,299. If you want even more storage, there’s the 1TB configuration for RM8,299. You can also use our code AZGALAXY to get a RM400 discount on the foldable phone – while stocks last, of course.
