Proton Sold 9,415 Units in April 2023 – X50 Continues to Lead SUV Market
May 8, 2023 Andrew Cheng

Things are certainly looking up for Proton. The national carmaker managed to sell 9,415 units (including export sales) in April 2023 last month, which translates to a 6.5% improvement over its April 2022 sales. This is despite the shortened sales and production time due to the Hari Raya holiday period.

Not surprisingly, the hugely popular Proton X50 continues to lead both the B-segment SUV market and the overall SUV market. With 2,644 units sold, as many as 12,312 units of the X50 have been delivered up to April 2023; a respectable figure.

Aside from the X50, the Persona and Exora continue to lead their respective segments too with 1,263 and 465 units sold respectively in April 2023. As for Proton’s best-selling model, it is none other than the Saga with 3,949 units sold last month, bringing the A-segment sedan’s total sales for 2023 to 21,395 units.

Now that the Proton X90 has been launched, we reckon the national carmaker’s sales will see further growth. After all, the premium D-segment’s value proposition is really quite good – more details on the X90 here.
