Honda Malaysia to Introduce 3 New Models & 1 Facelift This Year – Honda WR-V in Q3 2023
March 20, 2023 Andrew Cheng

Honda Malaysia just revealed its plans for 2023. The Japanese carmaker will introduce as many as four new models this year locally – one of them being a facelift – which also includes Honda’s first small SUV. That is likely a reference to the Honda WR-V; it’s set to debut here sometime in Q3 2023.

Positioned below the HR-V, the WR-V is a direct competitor to another popular small SUV on our shores, the Perodua Ativa. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see how Honda Malaysia will price the WR-V in our market. While we don’t expect it to be in the same price range as Perodua’s offering, we reckon it will be one of Honda Malaysia’s more affordable models.

As for the other two new Honda models that will be launched in Malaysia this year, the carmaker did not elaborate much, though there’s a good chance one of them will be the 2023 CR-V. After all, that SUV is slated to be launched in Thailand this Wednesday on 22 March.

What about the facelifted Honda model? Well, we believe it would be the fifth generation City sedan, which was launched on our shores back in 2020. Three years into its life cycle, it makes sense for the B-segment sedan to get a facelift. Plus, the City has also been facelifted in India recently.

2023 is shaping up to be quite an exciting year for Honda Malaysia, especially with the introduction of its first small SUV here. Though we’ll have to wait until Q3 2023 to see the local debut of the WR-V, it may just be the Japanese carmaker’s most anticipated model yet.
