PlayStation VR2 Now Available for Pre-Order in Malaysia From RM2,799

Sony’s upcoming virtual reality system for the PS5, the PlayStation VR2, is now available for pre-order here in Malaysia. Retailing from RM2,799, the VR system is – curiously enough – priced higher than the PS5 console itself, which starts at RM2,069 now after a price hike back in August 2022.

Several popular game stores locally have already opened pre-orders for the PS VR2. These include Impulse Gaming, HeavyArm Store, M4G, and even CK Multimedia System. Every retailer has its own pre-order system, so check with your preferred store if you’re keen to purchase the PS VR2.

Compared to the first generation PS VR, the PS VR2 features a number of improvements. The headset, for one, has a built-in motor with vibrations that is meant to amplify “the sensations of in-game actions from the player.” For example, you can feel a character’s elevated pulse during tense moments, or even the rush of objects passing close to the character’s head, as Sony puts it.

Other specifications of the PS VR2 include support for 4K HDR, a display resolution of 2040 x 2000 per eye, an OLED panel with a 90/120Hz refresh rate, 110-degree field of view, and foveated rendering.

And then there’s the PS VR2 Sense controller, which naturally sports the DualSense’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback for an immersive gameplay experience. Interestingly, the next-gen VR controller also has finger touch detection; it can “detect your fingers (without pressing any button) in the areas where you place your thumb, index, or middle fingers.”

The PlayStation VR2 is set to be released worldwide (including Malaysia) on 22 February 2023 next year from RM2,799 for the standard model. There’s also the Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle for RM2,999, along with a PS VR2 Sense controller charging station priced at RM229 – the latter is ideal for those who want the added convenience of charging the controller easily.
