PS5 Price Increase in Malaysia – RM200 Price Hike, Now Starts at RM2,069

Well, it’s confirmed: Malaysia is affected by the PS5’s global price increase. Previously retailing from RM1,869, the next-gen console now starts at RM2,069 on our shores – that’s a RM200 price hike.

That price tag is for the PS5 Digital Edition. If you want the standard PS5 with a Blu-ray disc drive, that will now set you back RM2,499 (up from RM2,299). Yes, just like the Digital Edition, the regular PS5 also receives a RM200 price increase.

Sony’s decision to increase the price of the PS5 is due to the “global economic environment.” Besides Malaysia, other markets in Asia-Pacific are also affected by the PS5’s price hike, including Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Curiously, the US is not affected by this price revision.

Price increase or not, it’s still difficult to actually purchase the PS5 globally, and Malaysia is no exception. What do you think? Will you still get the next-gen console without hesitation despite the price hike? Let us know in the comments section below!
