Aside from the new iPad Pro, it looks like Apple will also bring in the redesigned entry-level iPad to Malaysia very soon. Featuring a new design, a larger display, and USB-C port, the 10th gen iPad looks much sleeker and modern now, along with some performance improvements.

Just like the iPad Pro, the updated iPad was registered with SIRIM just today on 4 November under several applicants, including Apple Malaysia itself. Two distinct models have been certified: A2696 (WiFi-only) and A2757 (cellular).

At a glance, the most notable change to the updated iPad is the larger 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with smaller bezels. There’s no more physical home button either, with Touch ID moved to the power button, much like how it is on the iPad Pro and iPad mini.

Under the hood, the revamped iPad also gets the Apple A14 Bionic chip, an upgrade over its predecessor’s A13 Bionic. The new iPad’s 12MP ultra-wide camera has also been moved to the landscape edge of the tablet for better video calling experience.

Other upgrades to the redesigned iPad include support for the new Magic Keyboard Folio and the 1st gen Apple Pencil, an updated 12MP rear camera, WiFi 6 and 5G support, and of course, the aforementioned USB-C port.

The 10th gen iPad starts at RM2,099 in Malaysia, and it will be sold alongside last year’s model, which is currently going for RM1,599. It remains to be seen exactly when the updated iPad will be available for purchase on our shores, though there’s a good chance it will arrive here soon, given that the tablet’s certified with SIRIM already.
