Unveiled alongside Apple’s two new iPads is the next-generation Apple TV 4K, which sports a slew of upgrades. These include a faster A15 Bionic chip, support for HDR10+, and a Siri Remote with USB-C charging.
Two models of the new Apple TV 4K are offered in Malaysia. The WiFi-only base model with 64GB of storage is priced at RM699, while the 128GB variant with the addition of an ethernet port goes for RM799. It’s also worth noting that the 128GB model features Thread mesh networking protocol to connect to other smart home accessories.
Thanks to the upgrade to the Apple A15 Bionic chip, the next-gen Apple TV 4K offers up to 50% faster CPU performance, while GPU performance sees a notable 30% improvement. With support for HDR10+ (and Dolby Vision), you can be assured to enjoy HDR on a wider amount of content too.
Of course, there’s also the Siri Remote for the new Apple TV 4K, which now charges via USB-C instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector. This should make it easier to charge up the remote, especially if you’ve got a lot of USB-C cables lying around.
Although we now know the new Apple TV 4K is priced from RM699 in Malaysia, its local availability has not been revealed yet. We’ll be sure to post an update once the streaming box is available for purchase on our shores.
