Just last month, Asus unveiled two new gaming smartphones, the Asus ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate. These two phones are essentially the MediaTek version of the previously released ROG Phone 6 series, and the Ultimate model should be arriving in Malaysia very soon.
In our routine search through SIRIM’s database, we spotted the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate; it was registered under Dynamics Distribution on 6 October last week. All electronics have to be certified by SIRIM first before they can be officially sold in Malaysia, so chances are, Asus Malaysia will sell the new gaming phone here soon.
While the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is similar to the ROG Phone 6 Pro with an ROG Vision coloured PMOLED display on the back panel, it also has an AeroActive Portal. This “door” opens up when the phone is connected to the AeroActive Cooler 6, improving thermal efficiency by up to 20%. This should translate to better sustained performance.
One other new hardware of the ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate is the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, which is said to deliver 10% faster performance compared to the standard Dimensity 9000. It’ll be interesting to see how this chip compares to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip found in the regular ROG Phone 6.
Other specifications of the ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate include a 6.78-inch 1080p 165Hz AMOLED display, a triple camera system (50MP primary + 13MP ultra-wide + 5MP macro), a 12MP selfie camera, and a generous 6,000mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging.
It remains to be seen exactly when the Asus ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate will arrive in Malaysia, but given that the latter has already been registered with SIRIM, we reckon Asus Malaysia will reveal the local pricing and availability of the two phones very soon.
