Proton’s sales performance in September 2022 continues to record high numbers. The national carmaker registered over 14,872 units last month, which is just 1,008 units less than its impressive August 2022 sale.
Of that amount, 4,517 units were the extremely popular X50, though it is not Proton’s best-selling model in September 2022. As usual, that honour goes to the Saga with over 6,442 units delivered. It’s worth noting that this is the A-segment sedan’s highest monthly sales since October 2013.
Naturally, the X70 continues to lead the C-segment SUV market with 1,730 units sold. This is followed by the Persona (1,159), Iriz (606), and of course, the Exora with 418 units sold, retaining its position as the C-segment MPV leader.
“Proton’s Q3 performance was our best quarter of the year, coming in with 42,229 units for the previous three months. This was made possible by a combination of stability in our production numbers as well as the continued strong appeal of our models, especially for the 2022 Saga and X50, said the deputy CEO of Proton, Roslan Abdullah.
“Therefore, despite the poor start to the year, we are confident of achieving a fourth consecutive year of double-digit sales growth,” he added.
It’s worth noting that Proton has crossed the 100,000 units sales mark in the first three quarters of 2022, which is two months earlier than 2021. With over 102,353 units sold so far, it’s possible the national carmaker can reach its 150,000 sales target for the year.
