Proton Sold 15,880 Cars in August 2022 – Highest Monthly Sales in 9 Years

Proton continues to record high sales volume in August 2022 last month. In fact, with over 15,880 units sold – which includes domestic and export sales – it was the national carmaker’s best monthly sales in nine years.

With the encouraging sales performance, Proton said it remains focused to achieve its fourth consecutive year of volume growth. This is very feasible, given that over the past eight months, the company already registered 87,481 units; an increase of 39.7% compared to the same period in 2021 (62,637 units sold).

Not surprisingly, Proton’s SUV duo continues to lead their respective segments. The X50 was delivered to 4,329 owners last month, while the X70 recorded 1,555 registrations. Proton’s best-selling model in August 2022, on the other hand, is the Saga with 6,156 orders fulfilled.

“With four months to go in 2022, Proton’s production operations have stabilised. Critically, our component supply is now more consistent and better managed to ensure we can produce as many cars as possible, said the deputy CEO of Proton, Roslan Abdullah.

“With that in mind, we have undertaken an initiative to increase the number of delivery trucks by over 100% by the end of the year. This makes it easier to ensure our dealers receive their stock as quickly as possible and in turn, this benefits our customers who have been patiently waiting for their vehicles,” he added.
