The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 has finally been launched in Malaysia. Co-engineered with Devialet, the premium wireless earbuds feature active noise cancellation (ANC) along with a relatively neutral tuning; ideal for those who want a more “accurate” listening experience.

For the Malaysian market, the FreeBuds Pro 2 retails at RM899, putting it in direct competition to the similarly priced Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. It is also offered in three different colours: Silver Blue (the model you see here), Ceramic White, and Carbon Black.

Pricing aside, let’s talk about the FreeBuds Pro 2 itself. Two drivers are found in each buds: a standard 11mm dynamic driver, and a “planar diaphragm driver” – it’s said to be the first wireless earbuds with such a driver setup. According to Huawei, the ANC of these earbuds is also able to cancel out sounds between the 50Hz to 3000Hz frequency range.

As for battery life, the Freebuds Pro 2 can last up to 6.5 hours on a single charge with 30 hours of total playback with the charging case. But with ANC activated, the battery life is limited to 4 hours and 18 hours respectively. It comes with IP54 dust and water resistance rating as well.

We’ve tested the audio quality of the FreeBuds Pro 2 for a bit, and it’s quite good. It has a relatively neutral tuning, though to some folks, it can also be described as a “boring” sound signature. Yes, these wireless earbuds may sound flat to some folks, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
