Well, this is a pleasant surprise. While a facelift to the Proton Exora is expected to happen sometime this year, we didn’t expect it to happen later this week. The national carmaker just announced that the new Exora is set to be introduced on 19 August this Friday.
However, beyond the launch date, no other details of the new Exora were revealed. Well, there’s mention of a turbocharged engine that will make your “everyday journeys smoother,” but we imagine it’s the same 1.6L turbo Campro CFE engine found in the current model. It outputs 140PS and 205Nm of torque paired to a CVT gearbox.

According to the deputy CEO of Proton, Roslan Abdullah, in a previous interview, the new Exora will in fact sport some new features, though the amount of changes are said to be less than the facelifted 2022 Saga. There is a more extensive facelift to the MPV in the pipeline, but that isn’t happening anytime soon.
Nonetheless, we’ll find out for ourselves just what the new 2022 Proton Exora would bring this Friday on 19 August; you can also register your interest right here. Even though it’s expected to be a minor change, the MPV may feature some much-needed upgrades, which could appeal to buyers who are looking for an affordable seven-seater.
