Safety has always been one of the main selling points of Proton’s models, so it’s no surprise that the new 2022 Proton Iriz and Persona got a full five-star rating in the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia (ASEAN NCAP).
Do note that for this crash test, ASEAN NCAP only tested the Persona. But given the similarities between the Persona and Iriz, the test is considered to be valid for both models. After all, they share a similar structural design.
Looking at the results, both the Persona and Iriz have adequate adult occupant protection. In frontal and side impacts, the driver and passenger are adequately protected. With an overall score of 84.13, these two B-segment models are eligible to be awarded the 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating.
You can look at the full report of the crash test by ASEAN NCAP over here. A video of the crash test will also be posted soon.
