Proton just posted its sales figures for the month of September 2021, and things are looking good for the national carmaker. In fact, the Proton Saga is the best-selling car in Malaysia last month with over 3,907 units sold.

In total, Proton managed to ship 10,380 units in September 2021. While this isn’t enough to beat Perodua’s impressive 14,160 sales last month, that’s still no small figure, especially given the disruption to Proton’s supply chain due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Not surprisingly, right behind the Saga in terms of sheer sales volume is the ever-popular Proton X50: as many as 2,431 units of the B-segment SUV found a home last month. Next in the list is Proton’s other SUV, the X70 – 1,577 units of the C-segment model were sold in September.

Sales figures for the newly facelifted 2022 Proton Persona and Iriz look promising too with 1,440 and 749 units sold respectively. Last but not least is the Proton Exora, which registered 272 sales last month.

“Sales were strong for Proton in September, so we are happy with the results. While we could have sold more than the 10,380 units achieved, some context should be given to our performance as Malaysia is recovering from a pandemic that is still affecting our vendors,” said the CEO of Proton Edar, Roslan Abdullah.
