Unveiled globally just a few weeks back, the Apple Watch Series 7 has just been approved by SIRIM. This suggests that the brand new smartwatch could go on sale here in Malaysia very soon; all electronics have to be registered with SIRIM first before they can be officially sold on our shores.
We spotted two distinct models of the Apple Watch Series 7 on SIRIM: A2473 and A2474, which were registered with the certification body on 1 and 4 October respectively. Both of these are the WiFi-only models; the cellular versions have not appeared in SIRIM’s database yet.
Anyway, compared to its predecessor, the Apple Watch Series 7 has a larger screen; its screen bezels measure only 1.7mm thin. This allows the smartwatch to support a full-size keyboard now, and you can even use swipe typing for a more intuitive typing experience.
Aside from that, the updated Apple Watch is also said to be the most durable one yet. It features a stronger, more crack-resistant front crystal, along with an IP6X certification for dust resistance. Of course, the WR50 water resistance rating is retained too.
Charging speed of the Apple Watch Series 7 sees a nice upgrade as well. According to Apple, this smartwatch can now recharge up to 33% faster. As for battery life, the new Apple Watch can still provide the same all-day 18-hour battery life.
At the moment, the Apple Watch Series 7 is only said to be coming to Malaysia later this year. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on the local availability (and pricing) of the smartwatch.
