Aside from the Surface Pro 8, Surface Go 3, and Surface Pro X, it appears Microsoft will also launch its powerful Surface Laptop Studio here in Malaysia. As the company’s flagship laptop – replacing the Surface Book lineup – it has some capable hardware and an interesting design.
While we were browsing through Microsoft Malaysia’s website, we notice that the product page for the Surface Laptop Studio is live. It’s also said to be coming soon, though it’s worth noting that at the time of writing, the laptop is only visible under the Surface for Business category.
Anyway, the unique selling point of the Surface Laptop Studio is its “Dynamic Woven Hinge,” which allows the laptop to transition between three modes: laptop, stage, and studio. Laptop is self-explanatory, while stage props up the 14.4-inch PixelSense Flow display (2400 x 1600 at 120Hz) right behind the trackpad; much like Acer’s ConceptD 3 Ezel.
As for studio, it’s…basically transforming the Surface Laptop Studio into a tablet. But tipping the scales between 1.7kg to 1.8kg for the Core i5 and Core i7 models respectively, this is not exactly a lightweight machine.
The three modes of the Surface Laptop Studio
Speaking of processors, the Surface Laptop Studio can be configured with an Intel Core i5-11300H or Core i7-11370H processor. The Core i5 model features an Iris Xe Graphics integrated GPU, while the Core i7 option can be configured with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti or an RTX A2000 GPU.
Other specifications of the Surface Laptop Studio include 16GB or 32GB of RAM, SSD storage capacities between 256GB to a whopping 2TB, two USB-C ports with support for Thunderbolt 4, as well as up to 19 hours of battery life. Naturally, it will ship with Windows 11 too, though users have the option to use Windows 10 instead.
No word yet on exactly when the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio will be available here in Malaysia. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye on the local availability (and pricing) of the flagship laptop.
