Microsoft Surface Pro 8 & Surface Pro X (WiFi-Only) Coming to Malaysia Soon

Microsoft’s latest Windows tablets, the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro X – the new WiFi-only model – are set to arrive here in Malaysia very soon. Once these two tablets are available locally, they will be joining the Surface Go 3.

We were going through SIRIM’s database when we saw both the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro X registered under Ingram Micro Malaysia last week on 23 September. Though it wasn’t specified in the listing, we reckon the Pro X registered with SIRIM is the new WiFi-only model.

Compared to its predecessor, the Surface Pro 8 sees a much more significant design revision. Not only does it sport a larger 13-inch PixelSense Flow Display now with smaller bezels, it also has a higher 120Hz refresh rate for a more responsive user experience.

The Surface Pro 8 can also be paired with the new Surface Pro Signature Keyboard that houses the equally new Surface Slim Pen 2 stylus too. More importantly, this Windows tablet finally gets two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support as well.

Other specifications of the Surface Pro 8 include Intel’s latest 11th generation Core i5 or Core i7 processor, up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage – the base model features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage – along with up to 16 hours of battery life.

As for the Pro X, not much has changed, aside from the fact that it is now slightly more affordable. After all, this new variant is a WiFi-only model. Beyond that, its other specifications are unchanged from the previous model.

No word yet from Microsoft Malaysia on the local availability and pricing of the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro X. Given that they have been registered with SIRIM already, we reckon it won’t be long now until they are officially sold here.
