Xiaomi recently launched a device under a brand new series in China dubbed Xiaomi Civi. What makes this phone particularly interesting is its premium design at an affordable price point, but unfortunately enough, it’s now confirmed that it will not be sold outside of China.
This confirmation came directly from Xiaomi itself in a statement to Android Authority. “Xiaomi Civi remains a Mainland China-only device,” the phone maker said to Android Authority in an email.
However, it’s entirely possible that Xiaomi will rebrand the phone for the global market. After all, the company has done this many times before with its previous smartphones.
One of the highlights of the Civi is its 6.55-inch 1080p OLED dual curved display with a fast 120Hz refresh rate. This high refresh rate screen is paired with a reasonably quick Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, so it should be able to provide a good gaming experience.
Other specifications of the Civi include a triple camera system (64MP primary + 8MP ultra-wide angle + 2MP macro), a 32MP selfie camera, 8GB or 12GB of RAM, two storage options (128GB or 256GB), and a 4,500mAh battery with support for 55W fast charging.
In China, the Xiaomi Civi retails from only 2,599 Chinese yuan, which comes up to about RM1,680. While the “Civi” branding may not be sold outside of China, here’s hoping the device itself will be made available in other markets.
