AstraZeneca Dosing Interval Shortened Even Further to 6 Weeks From 1 October
September 24, 2021 Andrew Cheng

If you’re still waiting for your second dosage of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, you won’t have to wait much longer now: the dosing interval has been shortened even further to six weeks instead of nine weeks. This new dosing interval will take effect from 1 October onwards.

This was announced by Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister of Health. He said that the dosing interval for AstraZeneca is shortened to six weeks to make it more convenient for those who have received their first dosage of the vaccine.

However, even though the dosing interval for AstraZeneca has been shortened to six weeks, you are still required to wait 14 days after your second dosage to be considered fully vaccinated. This is the same waiting period for other two-dose vaccines such as Pfizer and Sinovac.

Previously, the dosing interval of AstraZeneca was shortened from 12 weeks to nine weeks back in July this year. Now that it has been shortened further to six weeks, the vaccination rate of Malaysia should speed up accordingly.
