If you’re part of the first opt-in for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, take note: the dosing interval has been shortened to nine weeks now instead of 12. If you received the vaccine back in May, expect to get your second appointment very soon.
This was revealed by Khairy Jamaluddin, the coordinating minister for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme. In a Tweet sent out by him, he said the dosing interval for the AstraZeneca vaccine is being shortened on the recommendation of their Technical Working Group.
It’s also worth noting that Malaysia have just received one million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine courtesy of the Japanese government. As confirmed by Khairy in a press conference, this batch of the vaccine will be given to folks who signed up for the first opt-in session back in May.
If you received the AstraZeneca vaccine in early May, your second appointment should be happening as early as next week. Make sure to check your MySejahtera app for any update on your appointment.
