Honda Malaysia to Introduce “New Models” in Coming Months – 2022 Civic & City Hatchback?
September 3, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Now that the automotive sector has resumed operations, Honda Malaysia is gearing up to regain its momentum in the last four months of 2021. In its plan to do so, the carmaker is planning to introduce “new models” right here in Malaysia in the coming months – could these be the 2022 Civic and City Hatchback?

According to the MD and CEO of Honda Malaysia, Madoka Chujo, Honda Malaysia “has lined up new models that feature Honda’s Next Generation Advanced Technology to be launched in the coming months.”

“These launches will provide Malaysians with more new model options during the current sales tax exemption period, which has been extended to 31 December 2021,” she added.

This seems to indicate that Honda Malaysia will introduce at least two new models by the end of the year. More likely than not, one of the two models should include the all-new 2022 Civic, which was teased by the carmaker itself to be launched here sometime this year.

As for the other new model, there’s a good chance it is the City Hatchback. As its name suggests, it is basically the hatchback version of the current City sedan, though it does come with a number of differences. These include Ultra Seats – as found in the current Honda Jazz – and (in our opinion) a sportier rear end.

Only time will tell if Honda Malaysia will introduce both the 2022 Civic and City Hatchback locally by the end of the year. If you’re contemplating to get the newer, more mature-looking 11th gen Civic or the current 10th gen model, give this article a read – it may just help you decide.
