Affordable Redmi 9C Now Comes With 128GB Storage for RM499 in Malaysia
July 30, 2021 Andrew Cheng

Other than the new Starlight Purple colourway of the Redmi Note 10S, Xiaomi is also launching a new variant of the Redmi 9C in Malaysia. Previously only available with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, the new Redmi 9C model is packed with a much more practical 128GB of storage.

Aside from that, the new Redmi 9C variant also features 4GB of RAM instead of 3GB. Despite sporting more RAM and storage capacity, it doesn’t cost all that much more either. Retailing at RM499, this configuration only costs RM20 more than the previous 64GB + 3GB model, which went for RM479.

Anyway, given its affordable price tag, the Redmi 9C is a decent entry-level phone. It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, and fabricated on a 12nm process, it’s a relatively power-efficient chip. Packed with a very generous 5,000mAh battery, you can expect to get good battery life.

Moving on to the camera, the Redmi 9C has a triple camera system made up of a 13MP f/2.2 primary camera, a 2MP f/2.4 macro shooter, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. Not the most sophisticated camera system, but it should do in a pinch, especially for a phone at this price point.

Other specifications of the Redmi 9C include a 6.53-inch 1600 x 720 display, a 5MP f/2.2 front camera, as well as a rear fingerprint sensor.

The new Redmi 9C variant with 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM will be available in Malaysia from 3 August onwards.
