The Redmi 9C was released here in Malaysia last June, but it only came with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. While that’s not bad for an entry-level smartphone, you can now get the 9C with more RAM and storage for just a little bit more cash.
Previously, the Redmi 9C with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage retailed at RM429. This new variant, on the other hand, features 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for only RM50 more, bringing the price up to RM479. In our opinion, it’s worth paying extra for the new model to get more RAM and double the internal storage.
Beyond the extra RAM and storage, this new variant of the Redmi 9C still comes with the same hardware. It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, and fabricated on a 12nm process, it should be power-efficient enough to allow the 9C to return respectable battery life. After all, it’s packing a very generous 5,000mAh battery.
Moving on to the camera, the Redmi 9C has a triple camera system made up of a 13MP f/2.2 primary camera, a 2MP f/2.4 macro shooter, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. Not the most sophisticated camera system, but it should do in a pinch, especially for a phone at this price point.
Other specifications of the Redmi 9C include a 6.53-inch 1600 x 720 display, a 5MP f/2.2 front camera, as well as a rear fingerprint sensor.
The Redmi 9C with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is now available for pre-order in Malaysia for RM479 until 21 August; it will hit store shelves on 22 August onwards. If you can’t wait, you can still purchase the slightly more affordable Redmi 9C with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage for only RM399 today.
