Sony Malaysia updated its website with quite a number of new product listings, including the Sony Xperia 10 III mid-range smartphone. With that, we now know the local pricing of the mid-ranger once it goes on sale here next month in August.
For the Malaysian market, the Xperia 10 III retails at RM1,999 – quite a steep price tag for a mid-range smartphone. This doesn’t come as a surprise of course, given that its predecessor, the Xperia 10 II, went for RM1,799 at launch.
For that kind of money, the Xperia 10 III features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset, which should be faster and more power-efficient than its predecessor’s Snapdragon 665 chipset. After all, it’s built on an 8nm process instead of the Snapdragon 665’s 11nm process, which should translate to better battery life.
Other specifications of the Xperia 10 III include a compact 6-inch 2520 x 1080 OLED screen, a triple camera system (12MP f/1.8 primary + 8MP f/2.4 telephoto + 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle), an 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, a generous 4,500mAh battery, and an IP65/IP68 rating.
The Sony Xperia 10 III should be arriving in Malaysia next month in August 2021. Although its RM1,999 price tag is quite high for a mid-range smartphone, you don’t often see a device with such a feature set – such as its compact form factor and water resistance – in this segment.
