Announced globally just a few weeks ago, we have good reason to believe that Apple’s brand new iMac and iPad Pro powered by the Cupertino’s company very own M1 chips are coming to Malaysia very soon. In fact, there’s a chance they will be available locally in the next few weeks.
We spotted the new iMac and iPad Pro in SIRIM’s database; electronics have to go through the certification body first before they can be officially sold in Malaysia. Anyway, the A2540 and A2449 devices are the iMac and new Magic Keyboard respectively, while the model numbers A2461 and A2459 are the 12.9-inch and 11-inch iPad Pro models respectively.
What about the A2540 wireless remote? Well, that’s likely the new Apple TV Remote for the Apple TV 4K, which is also coming here very soon.
What makes the new 24-inch iMac particularly interesting (aside from its vibrant colourways) is the M1 chip powering the AIO. It’s said to be up to 85% faster than its predecessor, and it now comes with a bright 24-inch 4.5k Retina Display with True Tone support. On top of that, it ships with colour-matched mouse and keyboard as well, along with a matching magnetic power connector.
As for the M1 iPad Pro, it offers 50% and 40% faster CPU and GPU performances respectively with the new chip. The 12.9 model also gets a 2732 x 2048 mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display, while the 11-inch variant features a 2388 x 1668 IPS screen. Both iPad Pro models also come with a new 12MP ultra-wide angle front camera with TrueDepth support too.
So when exactly will these Apple products be available here in Malaysia? Well, if the local availability of the M1-powered Macs are any indication, the new iMac, iPad Pro, and Apple TV 4K may go on sale here in the next two to three weeks. To recap, they retail from RM5,599, RM3,499, and RM849 respectively for the Malaysian market.
Rest assured, we will closely follow the Malaysian availability of these new Apple products.
