M1-Powered MacBook Air, MacBook Pro & Mac Mini Registered With SIRIM; Available in Malaysia Soon?

Initially unveiled to the world on 11 November, the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini powered by Apple’s brand new M1 chip may be available in Malaysia very soon. After all, all three of these products have been certified by SIRIM.

In fact, the Mac mini with the new M1 chip just appeared in SIRIM’s database today; it was registered under Apple Malaysia with the model number A2348. As for the M1-powered MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, both of them were certified by SIRIM with the model number A2337 and A2338 respectively earlier this week on 23 November.

Even though we already know the Malaysian pricing of these three M1 products, Apple did not reveal exactly when they will be arriving in Malaysia. Chances are, the Cupertino company wants to get them certified with SIRIM first before announcing their local availability.

To recap, the M1 Mac mini retails from RM2,999 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage; you can get the RM3,799 model if you want to upgrade the SSD storage to 512GB. The M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, on the other hand, start at RM4,399 and RM5,599 respectively; both base models feature 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.

Now that the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini with Apple’s M1 chip have been certified by SIRIM, we reckon they will be sold here very, very soon. We’ll keep you guys updated on the local availability of these products, so stay tuned to Nextrift!
