Another day, another set of spy shots of the 2021 Proton Persona and Iriz facelift have made it onto the internet. This time around, it reveals a new feature for the upcoming B-segment cars: LED headlights. This will be a departure from the current models’ halogen lights.
These spy shots were captured by a reader of Funtasticko. The new Persona and Iriz pictured in the images below were captured in Kuantan, and looking at the headlights of the two models, they do appear to be LED lights instead of halogen. This is evident from the bright, white beam of the headlights.
Aside from that, an anonymous source also told Funtasticko that the 2021 facelifted Persona and Iriz will in fact be upgraded with LED headlights. Unfortunately enough, this feature will supposedly be limited to the range-topping Premium variants of the respective models.
Another noteworthy upgrade that is rumoured to be coming to the new Persona and Iriz is a different transmission. Instead of a CVT gearbox, the facelifted models are said to be equipped with the same four-speed automatic transmission – which is sourced from Hyundai – that’s currently found in the Proton Saga.

At the moment, it remains to be seen exactly when the 2021 Proton Persona and Iriz facelift will be released, though rumours are suggesting that these two new models will be unveiled as early as April 2021. It’s also worth noting that Proton is currently working on the R3-branded Proton Iriz and Proton Saga as well – plenty of new Proton models to look forward to this year!
