Great news! Sony Malaysia just announced on its Facebook page that the second batch of pre-orders for the highly sought-after PlayStation 5 console is happening tomorrow on 8 January. However, as expected, stocks will be limited.
According to Sony Malaysia, this second pre-order for the PS5 will only be done at Sony Stores in KLCC and The Curve. Yes, you are required to visit either one of these two physical stores to place your pre-order of the console. At the time of writing, it remains to be seen if other retailers will also open pre-orders for the PS5.
To recap, there are two versions of the PS5. The PS5 Digital Edition retails at only RM1,869 here in Malaysia, while the standard PS5 with a Blu-ray disc drive costs slightly more at RM2,299. If you prefer to buy your games digitally, the more affordable Digital Edition is certainly a good option.
If you’re considering to get other PS5 accessories with this pre-order, do note that you are limited to only one item per console. If you need a refresher, the DualSense controller costs RM349, while the charging station for the DualSense (which can charge two of them at the same time) retails at RM149. There’s also the Pulse 3D wireless headset (RM469), HD Camera (RM279), and Media Remote (RM149).
In the event that you are still unable to get the PlayStation 5 from this pre-order, we don’t recommend purchasing the system above retail price from scalpers. More stocks will be made available eventually. Plus, if you’re an existing PS4 owner, you don’t have to upgrade just yet.
