Announced globally just a couple of weeks ago, the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick is now available for purchase here in Malaysia. This streaming device allows any TV with an HDMI port to become a smart TV, and the best part is, it is very affordable too: it can be yours for merely RM149.

We spotted this listing of the Mi TV Stick on Xiaomi Global’s official store on Shopee. Although it is based in China – meaning the product is shipped from the country too – the listing mentions that the TV Stick comes with a one-year local warranty. Rest assured, this is not a grey import – you wouldn’t get official local warranty support if that was the case.

Anyway, what makes the Mi TV Stick particularly interesting – besides its competitive price point – is its ability to transform any regular TV to a smart TV. Once it’s plugged into an HDMI port, just connect it to the internet to enjoy all the features of Android TV. That’s right, this little, compact device supports Android TV.

Thanks to this feature, the Mi TV Stick has access to the Google Play Store, giving users the ability to download various apps. Whether you’re looking for streaming apps like Netflix or YouTube, you’re only limited by apps that are made for the platform, which is…well, quite a lot.
