Realme has been launching quite a number of smartphones in Malaysia over the past couple of months, but the next device it is introducing on our shores is quite different. Set to be unveiled here next week on 28 May, the Realme X3 “SuperZoom” has hardware that can take on flagship smartphones.

As its name suggests, the Realme X3 SuperZoom is said to come with a rather far-reaching camera system. According to Realme, the X3 sports a quad camera system that can do up to 60x zoom. The primary sensor, on the other hand, is confirmed to be a 64MP shooter by Realme itself.

These are official details of the X3 SuperZoom, and given that the phone has not been launched yet, the exact camera hardware is still shrouded in mystery. However, if rumours and leaks are to be believed, the quad camera system of the phone will be made up of the aforementioned 64MP main sensor, an 8MP periscope telephoto lens that can do 5x optical zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a macro sensor.

Besides the camera configuration, the X3 SuperZoom will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset as well. It may not be the latest Snapdragon 865 SoC, but the 855+ is still a very capable processor. Whether you’re a heavy multitasking smartphone user or an avid mobile gamer, you will get more than enough processing power to meet your needs.

Speaking of which, gamers will appreciate the Realme X3 SuperZoom’s fast 120Hz screen. Thanks to the high refresh rate, every single motion and animation will look extra smooth on this display. There is also an oblong-shaped hole-punch cutout on the top left of the screen to house a (supposedly) 32MP selfie camera and an 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter.

Other rumoured specifications of the X3 SuperZoom include a 6.6-inch 1080p screen, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of non-expandable storage – no microSD card slot here – a 4,200mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging, Realme UI based on Android 10 out of the box, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that also doubles as the power button.

The Realme X3 SuperZoom will be introduced in Malaysia next week on 28 May at 11AM; the launch will be streamed live on Realme’s Facebook page. Realme smartphones usually offer pretty good value for money, so we’ll see if the same remains true for the X3 SuperZoom.
