The Realme 6 Pro has finally been launched in Malaysia; two months after the local debut of the Realme 6. Compared to the other devices in the series, the Pro model features a number of notable upgrades, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. This makes it the only smartphone in the lineup with a Qualcomm SoC.
Thanks to the Snapdragon 720G chipset, you can expect to get a reasonably good level of performance with the Realme 6 Pro. Of course, that puts it in direct competition with another notable mid-range smartphone that is powered by the same chip, the Redmi Note 9S.
Xiaomi’s offering costs only RM799 – or RM899 for the 128GB option – while the Realme 6 Pro is markedly pricier, retailing at RM1,399 for the sole 128GB model with 8GB of RAM.
But in comparison to the Redmi Note 9S, the Realme 6 Pro does offer a number of hardware advantages. For one, it comes with a faster 6.6-inch 2400 x 1080 IPS screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the high refresh rate, every animation and motion will look extra smooth on this display.
On top of that, the Realme 6 Pro also sports a more sophisticated quad camera system. It’s made up of a 64 MP f/1.8 primary sensor, a 12MP f/2.5 telephoto shooter, an 8MP f/2.3 ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2MP /2.4 macro lens. A telephoto sensor isn’t typically offered in this segment, so this gives the Pro an edge.
If you’re into selfies, you’ll be happy to know that the Realme 6 Pro features two front-facing cameras. The main shooter is a standard 16MP f/2.0 unit, which is paired with an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens. Thanks to these two sensors, you’re getting the flexibility of snapping regular selfies with the 16MP camera, and switch to the 8MP ultra-wide shooter when you need to take group selfies instead.
Other specifications of the Realme 6 Pro include a 4,300mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging, a microSD card slot for further storage expansion, an ergonomically-friendly side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Realme UI based on Android 10 out of the box.
The Realme 6 Pro will be available for purchase later tonight at 12AM on Lazada. Authorised dealers, on the other hand, will start offering the device from 16 May onwards. Retailing at RM1,399, every purchase of the Realme 6 Pro will come with seven different casings worth RM149, along with a 12-month extended warranty.
