The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G was officially unveiled a couple of months ago alongside the global debut of the Xiaomi Mi 10 series. It’s been some time since the mid-range smartphone was introduced, and it is finally coming to Malaysia. Once the Mi 10 Lite is sold here, it could be the most affordable 5G phone on our shores.
Just today, a device with the model number M2002J9G was registered under Xiaomi Malaysia in SIRIM’s database. We have cross-referenced this model number with multiple sources, and we’re confident this is the Mi 10 Lite. The 5G certification in SIRIM’s listing supports this as well.
Compared to its higher-end siblings, the Mi 10 Lite isn’t quite as well-equipped, but it is still a very respectable mid-range smartphone. After all, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset. This is currently the chipmaker’s most powerful SoC outside of the Snapdragon 8 series.
Besides that, instead of the Mi 10 or Mi 10 Pro’s hole-punch design, the Mi 10 Lite has a more conventional-looking notched display. While this doesn’t look particularly pleasing to the eyes, it is quite a small notch, so it shouldn’t be too distracting in day-to-day use.
As for the panel itself, it’s a 6.57-inch 1080p AMOLED TrueColour display. Thanks to the inherent properties of AMOLED panels, you can expect to get deep blacks and punchy colours with this screen.
When it comes to battery life, the Mi 10 Lite should be quite long-lasting. It features a 4,160mAh battery, and while this isn’t a very big capacity, it will likely return (at the very least) a day’s worth of use on a single charge. When you do need to recharge the battery, the phone’s 20W fast charging should be able to top it up relatively quickly.
In the camera department, the Mi 10 Lite sports a quad camera system with a 48MP primary shooter. Unfortunately, Xiaomi still has not released any details on the other three camera sensors, but one of them could be an ultra-wide angle lens. Given its more affordable positioning in the Mi 10 series, the Lite would likely omit a telephoto camera as well.
Other specifications of the Mi 10 Lite include a 16MP selfie camera, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, and a USB Type-C connection.
At the moment, we have yet to hear from Xiaomi Malaysia on the local availability of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G, though it’s worth noting that it is said to be available globally sometime this month. Nonetheless, we’ll keep a close eye on the Malaysian availability of the Mi 10 Lite. Perhaps it will debut alongside the Mi Note 10 Lite, which is expected to arrive here this month.
