After launching the Realme 6 and Realme 6i on our shores, the Chinese phone maker is finally ready to introduce the range-topping model of the series in Malaysia. Of course, we’re talking about the Realme 6 Pro, which is quite a bit more capable than the other two devices in the lineup.
For one, the Realme 6 Pro is the only device in the series that’s powered by a Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 720G. This puts it in direct competition with another budget-friendly smartphone that features the very same SoC, the Redmi Note 9S.
But unlike Xiaomi’s offering, the Realme 6 Pro sports a more sophisticated quad camera system. It’s made up of a 64 MP f/1.8 main sensor, a 12MP f/2.5 telephoto shooter, an 8MP f/2.3 ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2MP /2.4 macro lens. That’s right, it has a telephoto sensor, which isn’t typically offered in this segment.
On the front, the Realme 6 Pro has two selfie cameras: a standard 16MP f/2.0 sensor, and an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle shooter. If you take a lot of selfies, you will appreciate the flexibility afforded by these two cameras. You can snap regular selfies with the 16MP camera, and switch to the 8MP ultra-wide shooter when you need to take group selfies.
The two camera sensors are positioned in an oblong-shaped hole-punch cutout on the top left of the screen.
Speaking of which, the Realme 6 Pro also comes with a rather fast 6.6-inch 2400 x 1080 IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Thanks to this, every motion on the screen will look extra smooth, giving the impression of a faster device. Compared to standard 60Hz screens, you will get better motion clarity with the 90Hz refresh rate.
Battery life of the Realme 6 Pro should be quite good too with its 4,300mAh battery. It’s not the largest cell we’ve seen in a mid-range smartphone, but it does support 30W fast charging. According to Realme, this allows the phone to be fully charged in only one hour.
Other specifications of the Realme 6 Pro include 6GB or 8GB of RAM, two storage options (64GB and 128GB), a microSD card slot, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Realme UI based on Android 10 out of the box.
The Realme 6 Pro will be introduced in Malaysia through an online live stream on Realme’s Facebook page. The launch event is set to take place on 11 May at 11AM.
