After its initial announcement at CES 2020, MSI is finally ready to take the wraps off the powerful MSI GS66 Stealth gaming laptop. Not only does it have a blazing fast 300Hz screen, it also comes with Intel’s brand new 10th generation Core i9-10980HK processor and Nvidia’s latest GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q mobile GPU.
This makes the GS66 Stealth one of the first gaming laptops to feature the new components from Intel and Nvidia. In fact, according to Intel, the Core i9-10980HK’s peak clock speed – for a single core – of 5.3GHz offers up to 50% boost in performance. However, note that this figure is compared to the Core i7-9750H processor.
Aside from that, there’s also the new RTX 2080 Super Max-Q with 8GB of GDDR6 memory under the hood of the GS66. No performance figures were given by MSI, but it’s safe to assume it’ll bring notable performance gain over its non-Super counterpart. Aside from the RTX 2080 Super, the GS66 can be configured with an RTX 2070 Super Max-Q (8GB GDDR6) as well.
Of course, there’s also the GS66’s impressive 15.6-inch 1080p screen with a very high 300Hz refresh rate. Competitive and casual gamers alike will definitely appreciate this very quick panel, but if you’d rather spend less to get a slightly slower display, there’s a more affordable variant of this gaming laptop with a 240Hz screen.
Another interesting hardware of the GS66 is the sheer size of its battery. Rated at a whopping 99.9WHr, this battery capacity should be able to return reasonably good battery life. Even with such a big cell, it’s still quite a slim and light machine: it measures 19.8mm thin and weighs 2.1kg.
For the Malaysian market, three variants of the MSI GS66 Stealth are offered. The range-topping model comes with a Core i9-10980HK processor paired with 32GB of RAM, an RTX 2080 Super Max-Q, a 300Hz screen, and a whopping 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD. How much does this variant cost? A cool RM16,999.
A tier down is the GS66 with the same display and processor, but the GPU is swapped for an RTX 2070 Super Max-Q. The SSD and RAM capacities are reduced by half as well, to 1TB and 16GB respectively. This particular variant is priced at RM13,999.
Last but definitely not least is the most affordable model of the GS66, which comes with a Core i9-10750HK processor paired with 16GB of RAM, an RTX 2060 (6GB GDDR6) GPU, a 240Hz screen, and 1TB of SSD storage. For this configuration, you’ll just have to fork out RM8,399.
MSI Malaysia did not mention exactly when these three variants of the GS66 will go on sale locally, but given that their retail prices have been revealed, expect them to be available very soon.
