We first spotted the new M1 Macs on SIRIM a couple of weeks ago, and they are now officially available for purchase here in Malaysia. These include the M1-powered MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini; just in time for the holidays.
Out of the three new products, the MacBook Air will ship the earliest on Apple’s Malaysian online store. Both the 256GB and 512GB configurations are said to be delivered to customers in three to five business days. As for the MacBook Pro and Mac mini, they are set to ship between five to seven business days.
To recap, the M1 Mac mini retails from RM2,999 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage; you can get the RM3,799 model if you want to upgrade the SSD storage to 512GB. The M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, on the other hand, start at RM4,399 and RM5,599 respectively; both base models feature 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.
Compared to their Intel counterparts, the M1 chip powering these new Macs bring some notable improvements. For one, as it is built on a 5nm process, its power efficiency is far better. With the MacBook Pro, for example, users can expect to get up to 20 hours of battery life on a single charge with the new processor; 18 hours for the MacBook Air.
On top of that, Apple also promises that the M1 chip is packed with the world’s fastest CPU core and integrated GPU.
If you’d like to get the new M1-powered Macs before the Christmas holiday, you may want to order it as soon as possible on Apple’s Malaysian online store. Alternatively, you can also head to your nearest Apple reseller.
