Proton Debunks Fake Pricing of Proton X50
September 17, 2020 Andrew Cheng

The Proton X50 is finally open for booking, but the pricing for the highly anticipated B-segment SUV has not been revealed yet. Naturally, everyone is eager to know exactly how much the new model will cost, so much so that an old viral post alleging to be the price list of the X50 started circulating again.

Proton, however, is quick to debunk the fake pricing of the X50. The national carmaker confirmed this on its Facebook page, further mentioning that “price list for the upcoming Proton X50 has not been released or disclosed at this point in time.”

Although Proton has not detailed the pricing of the X50 yet, there is a very good chance it will not be priced below the RM90,000 price point as per our previous report. At least, that’s what Affin Bank wrote in the terms and conditions for its Affin Duo campaign, which offers a “new exclusive Proton” – very likely the X50 – as the grand prize.

Of course, Affin Bank also mentioned that the RM90,000 price ceiling excludes insurance and road tax, and that the final price is still “subject to Proton’s announcement upon the launch of the new exclusive Proton variant in Malaysia’s market.”

Nonetheless, if the Proton X50’s highest-end Flagship configuration is priced below the RM90,000 price point, it would offer incredibly good value for money. Click here if you’d like to learn more about the X50.
