It’s finally official: the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro will be coming to the Malaysian market this Friday on 30 August. On top of that, the retail price of the affordable flagship smartphone has been revealed too, and it’s pretty darn competitive.
Two variants of the Mi 9T Pro will be available in Malaysia: the 64GB model retails at RM1,599, while the 128GB variant goes for RM1,799. Both models also come with 6GB of RAM, which should be sufficient for most users’ needs.
At these price points, the Mi 9T Pro is easily one of the most affordable smartphones in Malaysia with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, and this is really its biggest selling point. In a way, the Mi 9T Pro is really the closest thing to a successor of the much loved Pocophone F1.
Beyond the Snapdragon 855, other aspects of the Mi 9T Pro are quite good too. Compared to the standard Mi 9T, this Pro variant supports 27W fast charging instead of only 18W. That being said, the charger bundled with the phone can only output 18W.
Interestingly, the Mi 9T Pro also features a more robust cooling solution than the regular model. According to Xiaomi, this phone uses a custom cooling design that uses eight layers of graphite to dissipate heat “650% more effectively.” On top of that, the back of the phone also has heat-transmitting gel, graphite, and copper to help the CPU run at its peak performance.
This, in turn, reduces temperatures by up to 8°C when compared against more common cooling designs. It’s certainly an interesting claim, which we’ll put to the test in a full review of the device.
Rounding out the specifications of the Mi 9T Pro include a 6.39-inch 2340 x 1080 AMOLED display free of any notch of hole-punch cutout for the selfie shooter – thanks to the use of a 20MP f/2.2 motorised pop-up camera module – a generous 4,000mAh battery, as well as an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
Just like the standard model, the Mi 9T Pro comes with a triple camera system. It’s made up of a 48MP f/1.75 primary sensor, an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens, and a 13MP f/2.4 wide angle camera. The triple camera system can also record 4K videos at 60fps; something the regular Mi 9T cannot do.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro will be available for purchase in Malaysia from 30 August onwards, and four colours will be available for our market: Carbon Black, Flame Red, Glacier Blue, and Pearl White.
