smart #3 Launching in Malaysia 10 July – 0-100kmph in 3.7 Seconds
July 1, 2024 Andrew Cheng

smart Malaysia has started teasing the local launch date of its upcoming EV, the smart #3. Set to be unveiled on 10 July next week, the electric SUV coupe is a fast car with a 0-100kmph time of only 3.7 seconds.

Just like the smart #1 – which received a price cut recently – there are three variants of the smart #3. There’s the base Pro model, mid-tier Premium, and the range-topping Brabus model with the aforementioned 0-100kmph time of 3.7 seconds. This is thanks to its dual motor setup that outputs a total of 428PS and 543Nm of torque; exact same figures as the smart #1 Brabus.

In terms of range, the #3 Brabus can go up to 415km (WLTP) on a single charge from its 66kWh battery.

As for the base Pro and mid-tier Premium trims of the smart #3, both models feature a single electric motor driving the rear wheels that outputs 272PS and 343Nm of torque for a 0-100kmph time of 5.8 seconds. Range wise, the Pro’s 49kWh battery offers up to 325km of WLTP range, while the Premium’s larger 66kWh cell (same capacity as the Brabus model) can deliver up to 455km WLTP range.

Charging wise, the Brabus and Premium variants of the smart #3 support 22kW AC charging, which can charge up the battery from 10% to 80% in under three hours. smart Malaysia didn’t detail the Pro model’s AC charging speed, so we suspect it is the same 7.2kW onboard charger found on the equivalent smart #1 Pro.

When it comes to DC charging, the smart #3 can pull 150kW of power for a 10%-80% charging time of under 30 minutes.

Previously, smart Malaysia confirmed that local deliveries of the smart #3 will start sometime in Q3 2024. Chances are, those who placed a booking for the EV will start receiving their cars not long after the local launch next week on 10 July.

In the meantime, you can place a booking for the smart #3 with a RM1,000 refundable fee at your nearest authorised smart dealership or through the Hello smart app, which is available for download on the Apple App StoreGoogle Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery.
