Initially announced back in February last year, it appears you will be able to refuel with your Touch ‘n Go (TNG) RFID tag at selected Shell stations very soon. Basically, the RFID tag allows you to make payment at the fueling bay itself with your TNG eWallet balance.
We got word of this TNG RFID Fueling pilot programme in a newsletter we received from TNG; it appears only selected RFID users are chosen for the programme. Anyway, those who participate in the early testing of this feature will also receive up to RM20 in eWallet credit.
We were previously told that the TNG RFID Fueling system relies on “an overhead scanner that reads the radio frequency from the TNG RFID tag” at fueling bays. It can then deduct the amount of fuel that you’ve purchased from your eWallet balance; very seamless.
Of course, given that TNG RFID Fueling has not been officially rolled out to consumers yet, this feature is only available at selected Shell stations listed below:
- Shell Bandar Sri Menjalara
- Shell Mint Hotel
- Shell NKVE Damansara
- Shell Taman Connaught
- Shell Taman Tun Dr Ismail
If you’re a regular TNG RFID user, you may have been selected for the TNG RFID Fueling pilot programme. Unfortunately, it appears registration for the programme is not open to the public at the moment.
