Xiaomi 12 Lite With Snapdragon 778G Likely Coming to Malaysia 18 August

Xiaomi Malaysia set a product launch event for 18 August next week, but the Chinese company did not reveal exactly what it is introducing on that date. Well, based on a new teaser, it looks to be the Xiaomi 12 Lite, an upper mid-range smartphone with a premium appeal.

Looking at the Facebook post below, Xiaomi Malaysia is running a competition for fans to guess the brand ambassador for (you guessed it) the Xiaomi 12 Lite. This pretty much confirms the Malaysian release of the mid-ranger, and the contest will run until 17 August; a day before the company’s launch event.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, the 12 Lite should be able to provide a good level of performance, especially for a mid-range smartphone. It also features a bright and vibrant 6.55-inch 2400 x 1080 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Other specifications of the 12 Lite include a triple camera system (108MP primary + 8MP ultra-wide angle + 2MP macro), a 32MP selfie camera, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, and a 4,300mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging; a 67W charger is provided with the phone.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite should be introduced in Malaysia next week on 18 August. Given that it falls under the premium Xiaomi 12 series, expect it to cost slightly more than other mid-range phones from Xiaomi. We’ll find out for ourselves at the livestream of the launch event on 18 August at 8PM.
