WhatsApp Finally Enables Multiple Phone Linking – Here’s How to Do It

You don’t have to use our workaround to get WhatsApp to work on multiple phones anymore. The company just made it possible to link up to four additional devices now, including smartphones. If you’re wondering how to do that, here’s our guide.

First, download (or update) the latest version of WhatsApp on the Google Play Store. Launch the app, and go through the setup process until you get to the phone number screen. Instead of keying in your phone number, click the button on the top right corner to summon the menu, and select “link a device.”

Once you’ve done that, you’ll see the page above with instructions to start the link process. Just scan the QR code with your primary WhatsApp phone, and you’re done! According to WhatsApp, linked phones “connect to WhatsApp independently, ensuring that your personal messages, media, and calls are end-to-end encrypted,” which is reassuring.

WhatsApp added that it is currently working on an easier method to link your phone with WhatsApp Web. Instead of scanning a QR code, you’ll just need to key in your phone number to send a one-time code to your primary WhatsApp phone to start the link process. This feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
