Vivo has launched its latest mid-range smartphone in Malaysia, the Vivo V19. Priced at RM1,699 for our market, the V19 is quite costly for a mid-ranger, though that’s exactly how much its predecessor, the Vivo V17, was priced at when it was launched here back in December 2019.
Compared to the V17, the V19 brings a number of notable improvements. One of the most important upgrades is in the performance department: powering the V19 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset, which is faster than the V17’s Snapdragon 675 SoC.
On top of that, the V19 also comes with 8GB of RAM, so you should be able to get reasonably good performance and multitasking capability with this mid-range smartphone.
Besides that, the V19 has a quad camera system too. It’s made up of a 48MP f/1.79 primary shooter, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle sensor, a 2MP f/2.4 depth camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 macro lens. There’s no telephoto camera here, but the zoom lens is typically omitted in this segment anyway.
If there’s any feature that has always been an area of focus for Vivo, it would be the selfie camera. In this regard, the V19 is packed with two front-facing cameras: a 32MP f/2.08 main shooter, and an 8MP f/2.28 super-wide angle shooter. This camera configuration gives you the flexibility of capturing both regular selfies and wider shots for group selfies.
Another hardware of the V19 that’s worth highlighting is its 4,500mAh battery. That’s quite a generous battery capacity, and we reckon it would be able to return above average battery life. Thanks to Vivo’s 33W FlashCharge 2.0 technology, the company claims that the V19 can be charged up to 54% from empty in 30 minutes.
Other specifications of the V19 include a 6.44-inch 2400 x 1080 Super AMOLED screen, 128GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for further expansion, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, FunTouch OS based on Android 10 out of the box, and two colour options: Sleek Silver and Gleam Black.
The Vivo V19 will go on sale in Malaysia from 25 April onwards for RM1,699. Again, it’s quite a hefty price tag for a smartphone in this segment, but if its feature set catches your fancy – such as the dual selfie camera – it may be worth the money for certain folks. You can purchase the V19 on Vivo’s official online store as well as Shopee.
