After much anticipation, we finally got to drive the Proton X50! We headed to Sepang International Circuit to put the national carmaker’s new B-segment SUV through its paces in several tests, including a drag race, slalom test, and a number of demonstrations showcasing the X50’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
In the video below, you can see the X50 go against the Honda HR-V and BMW X1 in a drag race. Not surprisingly, the X50 is the quickest of the lot, and it handles quite well in the slalom test too. Completing the whole package is the SUV’s ADAS, a suite of intelligent features meant to make the driving experience that much more pleasant.
We expect the Proton X50 to be launched here very, very soon; perhaps sometime in the middle of this month. How much will it cost? Well, there’s a chance the X50 will retail below the RM90,000 price point.
