Keychron has made quite a number of affordable mechanical keyboards over the years, but the upcoming Keychron Q1 is arguably the company’s most exciting board to date. While it’s not quite as budget-friendly as Keychron’s previous products, the Q1 has a number of very compelling features.
Not only does the Q1 uses a gasket mounting system – a mounting style that is rarely used by mass-produced keyboards – it also has a full CNC aluminium body for a more premium look and feel. It also features a hotswap PCB with south-facing LEDs, screw-in stabilisers, and VIA support out of the box for easy keyboard mapping.
What makes the Q1 particularly interesting is the fact these features are typically only found on enthusiast-level keyboards. So if you’re looking to get into the custom keyboard hobby without breaking the bank, consider the Q1. Retailing from $139 – that’s about RM585 – it really does offer plenty value for money.
The Keychron Q1 will be available for pre-order sometime in August next month. Shipping will commence the following month in September 2021.
