This RM2,450 Malaysian-Designed Custom Keyboard Sold Out in Minutes

The raffle for Singa’s latest custom keyboard, the Kohaku, went live earlier today at 10AM. Within minutes, all 1,000 raffle spots were taken up – the Malaysian-designed keyboard certainly sold like hot cakes.

To recap, 1,000 raffle spots for the Kohaku were offered, but only 300 of the entries were selected to purchase the keyboard. The fact that the custom keyboard sold out so quickly is really quite impressive, especially with its RM2,450 price tag.

Granted, many folks in the custom keyboard scene would gladly pay that amount of money for a premium Singa keyboard. Anyway, the Kohaku itself is quite a sleek-looking 65% keyboard, thanks to the copper weight bottom with a Kōhaku Koi motif; that’s the inspiration for the name of the keyboard.

Aside from that, the Kohaku also uses a gasket mounting system with an aluminium case. There are two plate options too: a leaf spring aluminium plate, or a regular polycarbonate plate. For RM2,450, you’re getting the Kohaku case itself, a hotswap or solderable PCB, a plate of your choice, as well as a hard carrying case.

If you missed out on the raffle, there’s a chance you can still get the Singa Kohaku. According to Elaine, the owner of Singa, limited extra units of the Kohaku will be available for purchase once it starts shipping sometime in Q1 2022.
