Now this is quite an intriguing smartphone. Showcased at MWC 2021, the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 supports 160W fast charging and a colour-changing back panel, though as its name suggests, it’s not actually a consumer-ready device.
According to Infinix, the 160W fast charging tech can recharge the Concept Phone’s 4,000mAh battery from empty in only 10 minutes. It’s also capable of wireless charging, though it’s only limited to 50W.
The back panel of the Infinix Concept Phone is quite interesting too. Thanks to the use of electrochromic and electroluminescence films, the rear panel of the phone can change between silver to blue. It’s not just for show either, as it can be used as a form of notification.
It’s worth noting that these two technologies – the 160W fast charging and colour-changing back panel – are by no means new; both of them have been showcased by other phone makers before. Xiaomi, for one, did a tech demo for its 200W fast charging, which can charge up a phone with a 4,000mAh battery in only eight minutes.
Nonetheless, there’s no denying that the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 is an intriguing smartphone. As mentioned, it remains to be seen if it will ever be a consumer-ready device, though we reckon some parts of the two technologies could make it to a consumer smartphone one day.
