The New 14-inch MacBook Pro Features a Mini-LED Notched Display & MagSafe Charger From RM8,799

Apple has just unveiled the brand new 14-inch MacBook Pro. Powered by the brand new M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, this updated MacBook Pro also has a new design…along with a notched display.

That’s right, even the MacBook Pro gets a display notch now, though the overall bezels of the display are 24% smaller, making for a more modern, sleeker-looking laptop. The 14.2-inch panel itself is also a bright and vibrant Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display now, complete with ProMotion, offering adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz.

Oh, port selection of the 14-inch MacBook Pro is much better now too. Not only do we see the return of the MagSafe 3 connector, it also gets back the HDMI port and SD card reader.

Thanks to the new M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, the 14-inch MacBook Pro gets some serious performance upgrades too. In comparison to the previous, high-end 13-inch MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i7 processor, Apple said that the new MacBook Pro offers 13.4x faster 4K rendering in Final Cut Pro with the M1 Max chip; 9.2x faster with the M1 Pro.

This performance gain is achieved while still ensuring that the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors are as power-efficient as ever. According to Apple, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro can return up to 17 hours of video playback. It even supports fast charging: within 30 minutes of charging, the battery can get up to 50%.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at a cool RM8,799 for the Malaysian market, which features an M1 Pro chip, 16GB of unified memory, and 512GB of SSD storage. No word yet on exactly when it will be available for purchase in Malaysia.
