The HTC Desire 22 Pro Is a “Metaverse-Focused” Phone – Yes, HTC Is Still Making Phones

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen any new device from the Taiwanese company, but here it is: the HTC Desire 22 Pro. Touted to be a “metaverse-focused” phone, this mid-ranger is said to be the perfect companion to HTC’s Vive Flow VR headset, even if the headset is compatible with any Android phone.

Anyway, the Vive Flow VR headset is used to access the Viverse, HTC’s own take on the metaverse. This is where the Desire 22 Pro’s metaverse marketing comes into the picture, though beyond that, it looks to be your standard mid-range smartphone.

Hardware wise, the Desire 22 Pro is a packed with a 6.6-inch 1080p display clocked at 120Hz, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chipset paired with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a triple camera system (64MP primary + 13MP ultra-wide angle + 5MP depth), a 32MP selfie camera, and a 4,520mAh battery. Interestingly, it is also IP67-rated, a rare feature for a phone in this segment.

The HTC Desire 22 Pro will start shipping in the UK from 1 August onwards with a £399 price tag, which comes up to about RM2,155. It remains to be seen if the Desire 22 Pro will be offered in other markets, especially here in Malaysia.
